Brain scan      £525
Do I need a brain scan?
We require a letter of referral from your doctor to perform a scan of your brain. Some conditions, such as small areas of ischaemia, may be better imaged using MRI rather then EBCT. Your doctor will be best placed to advise you which is the most appropriate scan.

An EBCT brain scan may be advised if you suffer from one of the following:

  • Unexplained symptoms following head injury
  • Recent stroke
  • Unexplained headaches and memory loss
  • Unexplained personality change
  • Recurrent falls caused by multiple mini strokes
  • Are unable to have an MRI brain scan
Do I need to prepare for the scan?
You will need to fast (no food, but plenty of water) for six hours before you come to the centre for a brain scan.

The actual time you spend in the scanner is about 10-15 minutes. Further details can be found in the Your Visit section.
